Today, we’re going to talk about culture. I know a lot of you out there are thinking this is touchy-feely nonsense that doesn’t equate to the bottom line, and I’m here to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong.

Our guest today is David Barrett, the founder and CEO of Expensify, an organization with a simple and admirable purpose: “To make expense reports NOT suck.”

But this episode isn’t about expense reports – It’s about Expensify’s culture.

It’s about the fact that they held their user conference in Bora Bora this year; It’s about the fact that they take their entire team to a different country for a full month every year, just to get them out of their comfort zone and immersed in something different. So far, they’ve been to Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, Croatia, Portugal, and Cambodia.

This isn’t your typical organization, folks.

David takes his people as seriously as he takes his company, and that, I think, makes all the difference.
