Remember when you set up your first social media profile? Remember how fun it was? You reconnected with old friends and classmates. You shared photos with family and friends. You logged on and had fun. It was enjoyable. Well, that was then, this is now.
In the past two weeks, I have heard of harrowing crimes that were proudly broadcast on Facebook Live and Snapchat. I have stopped commenting and even reading comments on posts from news stations and magazines. The hate and vitriol is just too much. I have had my intelligence questioned, been belittled and demeaned and even had racial slurs hurled at me.
Yes, the tone and even the content of social media has changed. I’ll admit, I’m on it a lot less nowadays. However, I gave it some thought and came up with 8 Social Media Resolutions. Resolutions, to me anyway, is synonymous with wishful thinking. So, these are eight resolutions I wish people would undertake.
