Schenectady, New York native Willie Deane helped lead Schenectady High to a 28-1 record and a NY State Championship title his senior year. He earned an athletic scholarship to attend and play basketball for the Boston College Eagles. Needing a change of scenery, Willie transferred to Purdue University as a walk on. Deane became a starter for the Boilermakers midway through his sophomore season, led the Big 10 in scoring as a junior. Earning an athletic scholarship from Purdue along the way.
Post-college, Deane went on to enjoy a prolific 15-year pro career which included three Bulgarian championships, one Bulgarian Cup, a French championship, a French Super Cup and an Italian championship. The recent retiree is now a speaker and author of the children's book, LOVE.
