Readings – What and why

Readings set a tone to the wedding. bring wisdom, humor, and a sense of togetherness

Here are a few tips on how to choose readings that are meaningful

Make it personal-find something that is meaningful to both of you, make the search romantic. Do you have a favorite poem or line from a book or movie that describes you and your SO to a tee, include it? What about meaningful song lyrics?

Make sure the readings fit the style and length of your ceremony- if you are having a short ceremony don't make the reading longer than the ceremony itself. A single Reading shouldn't last longer than 5 minutes if you are having multiples hold them for around 2 minutes each.

Ask someone special to read=You can ask your parents or grandparents to do readings or get your maids and GMen involved as well. Do you have a young (reading age) niece or nephew that can read a passage from your favorite children's book like The Velveteen Rabbit or Winnie the Pooh? My Favorite from Pooh is "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live a hundred minus one day, so I would never live a day without you."

Couples wanting to show their devotion to each other and to their faith often turn to Bible verses. Wedding Bible verses can talk about love, the marriage relationship, or other topics. Bible verses are a way to show your commitment and beliefs on another level.

They don't need to be long just meaningful.

***LISTENER QUESTION***

How do we supply enough alcohol that people aren't outrageous, but that we can still satisfy his family? I want everyone to be happy and have a good time, and I certainly don't want to neglect his side of the family and their traditions. I want his family to feel comfortable, but I also want my family to feel comfortable.

A modified bar-use 3 to 5 basic or most popular choices-whiskey, vodka, gin tequila or rum, then mixers and garnishes. choose types of beer and wine (usually 1 red and 1 white) plus champagne or sparkling juice for toasts.

****know your alcohol laws in your county or state, you might need a license or liability insurance and if that is the case consider hiring it out****
