Convert Live Fans Into Digital Followers! By Using Artist QR Codes

We’re great at growing our online audience, putting up socials posts that drive traffic towards our new single or upcoming show. But how good are we at making sure our live audiences are following us on Instagram? Subscribing to our YouTube channel? Or engaging with us online.

I think the best way to make sure our live audience follows us digitally is by using a QR code. The QR code has become so common now and all the mystery has been removed from it. If fact your audience has already used the QR to get into the venue you’re playing at.

By using a QR code you remove all the friction involved in getting people to follow you on online. You no longer have to rely on your audience remembering to search for you, or spelling your name correctly, or sorting through all the tiny profile pics to find yours. A single scan and they’re there!

So where should your code take you? The code takes you to a single URL. I suggest using Link tree. This is a single link that breaks out all your links into one place. That way the user can just make one click and arrive at your destination. You can then prioritise your links to make sure traffic lands where you want it to. Whats most important to you? Spotify? Instagram? Your website? Youtube? Put that link at the top of your link tree.

Your next move is to display this. I reckon be as creative as you can displaying your QR code! Make it look awesome, and people will be more likely to get involved, maybe a light box, or a great poster with your branding! Make it look awesome and add to your show.

Lastly, make sure you tell people about it! We can’t rely on people taking initiative with this sort of stuff. We need to remind them and almost hold their hand. Maybe the first two times they think ‘yeah I’ll do that later’ The third time ‘I have to do that’ and they get up and do it. Tell them what’s cool about your YouTube channel, or why they should be a part of your Instagram family, or that you’ve got new music coming out soon. Give them a reason to join!

Your live audience is your warmest audience! These are the guys already committed to seeing you live, and they’ll be the movers and shakers inside of your social accounts, The already love you!
