Fried Bread talks to people who work for Government Departments in Aotearoa about their experiences and how they are trying to do the best for Maori. It is humble and intimate and aims to interrogate the yucky parts of ourselves and in the process nourish our wairua with a bit of bravery and a laugh or two.It is a monthly release, starting in February and is roughly 30 to 45 minutes duration. Each interviewee can be anonymous or not. There are only two rules; 1) do not name and shame person and don't name the workplace. The interviewees could be on the frontline doing the hard yards, at a Regional Office taking the credit for the frontline work, or at National Office thinking they are making relevant things. That was a joke...

June 15, 2020 09:00 - 50 minutes - 34.6 MB

Fresh from pulverising the curve, this episode focusses on banter, communication and the power of love. It is a beautiful dance over some hairy territory and without getting too dark we manage to squeeze some poetry in there. Some observations are made on the difference between private sector and public service and potential and aspirations.

We didn't want to be the typical and topical podcast about Covid19 HOWEVER we committed to one a month and this month the country closed down.  This episode we hear from an awesome tane about his hilarious and poignant moments balancing worklife and Tiger King. Interesting what happens when you hit pause. Pause (play).

March 10, 2020 02:00 - 51 minutes - 35.5 MB

We hear from a wahine toa of Waikato and Ngati Kahungunu about her reo Maori journey. Traversing the world of recruitment, this episode is full of all the elements of great purakau and greek stories - humour, power, ego, humour again, pain, resentment and humour. It is a beautiful slow burn about revolution, 360 degrees and being true to yourself and those you serve.
