Homily for the 23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time.
1. Look around for the opportunities the Lord is giving you to heed to His plan for personal conversion. Don't abandon your duties to pick on another brother or sister in Christ who you feel isn't fulfilling their duty.
2. Our Country is in bad shape. A huge "storm" awaits us because of the selfish and ungodly choices that have been made. We must shoulder this storm and must intercede for our country and be ready to help those who realize they need to repent and come back to the Lord.
3. Seek to reconcile and be at peace with people around you. The vast majority of Catholics IGNORE Matthew 18:15 which tells us we must seek to reconcile with our brother or sister when we have something against them. This has been the singular most disappointing experience I have had as a priest and something that causes great disfunction and consumes a lot of my time.
To put it simply:
1. Pray and discern.
2. Take the next right step.
3. Be a sign of hope for others.
