On this week’s program, your host, Justin Mog, gets his overalls dirty talking trees with Mateo Barnett & Jacquelyn Ecklund from Louisville Grows (https://louisvillegrows.org/). You’ll learn all the details about their upcoming volunteer tree planting in South Louisville (which has since been rescheduled for SUNDAY, March 13th, 12:30pm-4pm), as well as other volunteer opportunities, community orchards, Citizen Forester training, and the annual Seeds & Starts Sale which kicks off with cold-tolerant Cole crops on March 19th!

Jacquelyn Eklund is the Program Manager and Certified Arborist for Louisville Grows. She originally moved to Louisville in 2010 to study both Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Louisville. There she became invested in social and economic equity, and worked with affordable housing organizations across the country. Jacquelyn returned to Louisville in 2017 and is excited to connect with the community that she has grown to love.

Mateo is Field Operations Manager for Louisville Grows and has been digging in the dirt for as long as he can remember. He gardens and cares for house plants and lovebirds. He’s interested in how Louisville Grows can best serve the community and loves making personal connections while in the field. He plays with local musicians and currently plays electric mandolin in Isolation Tank Ensemble.
