There are different kinds of activism. Some people give up meat, some give up leather, some... give up their house and start a farm sanctuary! How? That was my question exactly! How DO YOU start a farm sanctuary?

Ask Greg and Carmen Pope and they will tell you. These two are the founders of the Farm of the Free - animal sanctuary, and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, located on 10 acres, 60 miles east of Atlanta in Good Hope, GA.

Farm of the Free Animal Sanctuary's mission is to create a space where all beings feel safe to be exactly who they are.

It all started with two young animal lovers, Carmen and Greg Pope. They met in 2007 and married in 2009. One of the reasons why they connected and fell in love with each other was because of their love for animals. Since they got married in 2009, they've rescued cats, dogs, fish and rats. The two love animals so much that they both decided to stop eating them, wearing them, and supporting places that exploit them & products that test on them. They've both been vegan since 2012, but they didn't want to stop there! So they founded an animal sanctuary.

In this conversation, Carmen and Greg share their journey toward veganism, what motivated each of them to make a switch, and how their activism shaped into starting a farm sanctuary.
