Focus the Fire 005 - The art of being an "also-preneur"

Choose a side hustle where the timing doesn't conflict with your main career. Who do you want to help? Describe Angie.  How many people do you want to help? Why do you really want to do this? Money, time, freedom, autonomy Discipline. The minute you're not on someone else's clock, then you are immediately on yours. Make every second count.  How much is your time worth? Per hour? You want to make $X each month. Ok. So how much money should your efforts be generating each hour.  Learn to say No politely, without regret.  4 questions to filter your time: 1. What will I learn 2. What will I earn 3. How will I grow 4. Who will I help? Automate processes where possible Use the weekend to plan your weekday moves Be a constant learner. Education for results is crucial.  Decide whether you want this to be a permanent side hustle or scale to a full time business, but keep this private until the time is right.
How can you leverage one for the other? Transfer of skills between the two worlds.  Why also-preneurs make great employees:  Less dependent on the company to satisfy their need for self actualization Familiar with taking personal responsibility  Builders and unifiers
Practice inspiring others toward a common cause  Less fear of failure. Willing to offer new ideas Understand what it means to empower others to do good work Initiative  Also-preneurs work best when the company supports or at least approves their other pursuits. Willing to give the company even more value in return for increased flexibility.  Know when to give the main career more attention. Perception is reality. Flexibility is a two way street.  If you want more freedom and flexibility, you have to out perform everyone else, to compensate for the perceived inequity.  For more information visit focusthefire.com and join the community list to get fire in your inbox.   Facebook|Instagram|Twitter: @focusthefire (show) or @dalanv (host)
