Welcome to Femmes to the Front! This podcast is about body, fat and gender positivity, fitness, feminism, recovery, risk, and crushing it at life.

On this episode, we talk to Jenny Bruso of the body positive outdoor culture account Unlikely Hikers! Jenny Bruso is a fat, queer, writer and former indoor kid who’s been involved with body-positive activism for more than fifteen years. In 2012, an accidental hike revealed a new life trajectory of healing, self-care and adventure in the outdoors. Through her blog and the Instagram community, @UnlikelyHikers, she exposes and transforms preconceived notions of what an “outdoorsperson” looks like and puts a spotlight on diversity, inclusion and visibility in outdoors culture. She lives and adventures in Portland, Oregon.

In this hour we discuss:

- How mental health can be healed with nature

- Finding queer community in the outdoors

- Exercising as a way to love your body instead of fixing it

- Punk and feminism

- Writing

and so much more.
