Carmen was a fledgling pro-surfer south coast of Sydney, who trained alongside 7 times world champ Stephanie Gilmore and competed all over the world on the pro-circuit in 202-2003.
After failing to make the world championship tour of 2003, Carmen opted to take a break from surfing and travel to Dharamsala in India, home of the Dalai Lama to take courses in spirituality in 2004.
Unfortunately this pursuit of happiness turned to the most traumatic journey of her life.
Carmen was abducted by unscrupulous tour agent for 2 month, where she was sexually abused and violently assaulted.
Carmen was 22 years of age.
