As a minority woman, you go through a lot of stuff to say the least. People doubt you more, question you more, and it makes you feel like you don’t belong. They can’t help it; people have preconceived notions about who you are and your background and your ability as a lawyer. And we have to bear the consequences of those stereotypes. Those kinds of treatment are at the root of many mental health conditions that a lot of us go through, but at the end of the day, as Samorn Selim, my guest today, demonstrates, we come out stronger because of it. Samorn is a lawyer turned coach who has gone through all kinds of struggles as part of an immigrant family and beautifully articulates the ways her own unique experiences have shaped her into who she is today and how she is able to serve her community. Minority women, this is especially for you if you feel like you are not enough or not worthy, because, and I rarely say this outright - you are wrong. You ARE enough and you ARE worthy. And I hope Samorn’s story sheds light on why.
