It’s time for Menopause 101! Many people belittle this phase that women go through. Though some would term this as magical, you have to know that it isn’t easy!

In this episode of the Fire In The Belly Podcast, Pete talks to Christine McGonagle about her new platform that offers information, help, and support for women going through the menopause and also for the people around them. It’s time that we step up and be in the know. There are a lot of myths to be debunked. For example, did you know that even teenagers can experience early menopause? She also dives deep about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Christine offers the help you need, or will need in the future. Tune in today.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
Not everyone is privileged enough to have a house they can truly call home. Even though Christine had her family (and relatives) close, she didn’t feel that familiar bond. Some feel sheltered, some feel comfy, but Christine felt like a tourist inside her home--she needed to leave ASAP.
Christine tried her best to mend things with her mother, but no changes were happening. There was no point in waiting anymore. Every single day that her child was around her alcoholic mother’s presence was worrisome for Christine.
Christine isn’t unfamiliar with hard work. She has worked in many hard jobs including working in a kitchen and the police force.
When Christine was studying and working at the same time, some people would call her a workaholic. But she loved what she was doing, she was passionate about her goals.
Christine will imminently be launching her brand online. For almost ten years, she’s been suffering from menopause. This led her to study more about it. Now, she wants to share her experience and help other women through this phase.
Existing misconceptions have been around for a long time, aside from the scarcity of clinicians that are specialised in menopause. There is confusion. Christine provides a platform where information about menopause can be easily disseminated.
There is still a lot to know about menopause. It’s not just women who need to be in the know, the men around them need to gain more knowledge too.

BEST MOMENTS
“I always wanted to help people. I knew there was something in me that could help me do that.”
“There are a lot of doctors out there that aren’t ‘specially’ trained on menopause.”
“Menopause is common in younger women now because of their lifestyle.”
“Menopause is about losing hormones. What do we need to do? Replace them!”
