And now coming to the stage is a writer for Reader's digest. I actually got that as my introduction once. People are staring at me like, can't anyone write for that? You just send in an article. The guy introducing me was trying really hard. He remembered that I'd written for big things, but he was so nervous that he forgot that it was Jay Leno on the tonight show and radio and syndicated cartoon strips. He tried to wing it. . .and that's what his brain came up with.

It's appropriate to kick off my first briefing with this week's topic -- tips on introductions. You may never be introduced on stage, but you will be introduced somewhere sometime. Whether it’s a business introduction to a potential boss or personal introduction to a potential date, don’t assume the person introducing you knows how to do. My tip: You must take control of the introduction. Give them one or two things at the most to say about you, and make sure they remember it – even if you have to make them repeat it to you. In this case, I gave the guy too many credits right before he went out, and I didn't confirm that he remembered it. He just went out without notes.

ACTION: So get ready now. Pick 2 things you want said about you for your business or personal introduction and be ready with it the next time someone says, hey I'll introduce you. Don't let them wing it or you may be a writer for Reader's Digest too. No offense to anyone whose ever gotten a story into readers digest. I think that's actually pretty cool.

That's it for today. Take care and enjoy your journey
