Going for Greatness Show: Unleash Your Inner Maverick and Soar Beyond Ordinary

Gift of Life Organization has save thousands of lives all over the world.  This episode is a 22 minute conversation with the founder, Jay Feinberg.  1st take away: A simple cheek swab can save a life.  It takes less than 5 minutes.  2nd take away: It's important to debunk the myth that donating stem cells is done by breaking bones or other such nonsense.  The reality is you watch Netflix and eat warm freshly baked chocolate chip cookies while you donate and save a life.  Why are stem cells so important?  They save lives every year -- thousands of lives.  You have the power to save a life.

IF YOU LIKED THE EPISODE, PLEASE LEAVE A 5* REVIEW.   Approximately every three minutes, a child or adult in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer.   In 1996, a twenty-something Jay Feinberg received the terrible news that he had Leukemia.   His life's dreams were shattered and he faced the real possibility of death because nobody in his family was a match to donate life-saving stem cells. Without giving up, his family embarked on a crusade to find a stem-cell donor and save Jay.   One remarkable person (a donor named Becky) whose life-changing swab was a match and cured Jay of Leukemia. Hear this remarkable man share how his stem-cell donation morphed into creating the international bone marrow registry known today as The Gift of Life and has saved thousands of lives to date.  Jay simply wanted to help others find a donor match and have a second chance at life.  This episode is the best twenty-two minutes you will spend today!

MORE BACKGROUND ON  BLOOD DISEASE AND SWABBING FOR DONORS.
Gift of Life has saved thousands of lives  and it all starts with a simple 'CHEEK SWAB.'  The Gift of Life aims to cure blood cancer through cellular therapy.  Gift of Life partners with over 120 college campuses called Campus Ambassador Program across the U.S. to encourage students to register as organ donors and get swabbed to be a potential match for patients with blood diseases.  At campuses, The Gift of Life holds 'Swab Week' and collects thousands of swabs that result in lifesaving matches.   There is hope of a cure through a bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplant. Cancer is a random killer. It can strike any one of us at any time. For many patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell, and genetic diseases, there is hope for a cure through a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant. That is, of course, if a donor can be found.  Hear Jay's story and get inspired and involved.  Jay is the inaugural recipient of the Charles Bronfman Prize in 2004.  Curing blood cancer through blood stem cell and marrow donation utilizing our large, diverse donor registry, in-house apheresis center, and cellular therapy lab.
