Like many mothers I know, I started to feel waaaayyyyy too overwhelmed a few months after my daughter was born. After around six months, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders (Like do you even lift bro?!) I felt completely overworked and stretched way too thin.

And I know other mothers feel this way. Believe me, I asked! We were all experiencing the same thing, and we were all being asked to explain it at work and at home, but we didn’t have a name for it. Until now.

Meet Lauren Smith Brody, the woman who gave this feeling a name and a plan on how to address it. Lauren is a journalist, editor, entrepreneur, and author of her latest book The Fifth Trimester: The Working Mom's Guide to Style, Sanity, and Big Success After Baby. Based on interviews with over 700 moms (!!!), The Fifth Trimester tackles every personal and professional issue you are probably dealing with, and the inspiration you need when and if you do head back to work. Lauren is the founder of The Fifth Trimester movement and consulting, which supports all working parents and caregivers to advance women’s leadership and drive economic growth. Yes, of course, I have her on speed dial!

Check out this week's episode to hear more about The Fifth Trimester and what we as parents can do to advocate for ourselves at home and in the workplace. Because you deserve it ✨
