Narcissists: we all know one, have worked for one, shared a house with one or dated one - a person's whose presence is powerfully and destructively isolating. Who work hard to appear strong, but mask a fragile self. Who suck the oxygen out of the room and energy out of you. You know it.  Maggie Hamilton is Sydney-based author, social researcher and media commentator. She’s written a bunch of books including What Men Don’t Talk About, and her new book, When We Become Strangers, explores our increasing social isolation from our families and communities.  You see, Maggie is worried, very worried, that our “all about me” society - coupled with social media - has seen an exponential growth in narcissistic behaviour which is fueling our loneliness epidemic. In this episode, Maggie discusses narcissism vs healthy self-esteem, how to work out if you’re a narcissist, and the importance of developing a community in combating loneliness.    WANT MORE FROM MAGGIE HAMILTON?   Find out more about Maggie Hamilton, here.
