Pain Assessment

From Theresa Mallick-Searle, MS, PMGT-BC, ANP-BC, a concise presentation on pain assessment. In this episode, Ms Mallick-Searle provides an overview of the different types of pain before going on to explain how to assess which type of pain your patient is experiencing and how it can affect their life—both physically and emotionally. She then discusses what questions to ask and exams to complete to assess pain levels, including the use of validated pain assessment screening tools. Listen as Ms Mallick-Searle applies these tools and tactics in a standardized patient interview to understand the patient’s level of pain and its impact on his life.
