How are Americans like peaches and Austrians like coconuts? Katie explains this metaphor and more as she delves into Austrian culture with me.
Katie is an American from Missouri with Russian and German heritage. As a young teenager she decided to study German in high school. That one simple choice put her on a path that would dramatically influence her life.
In this episode we talk about her move to Austria to improve her German, and the rich culture she encountered. She talks about:
+ The Austrian wedding tradition of stealing the bride
+ Leaving her American mark in a gymnastics gym that still plays "Duck Duck Goose"
+ The significance of the waltz and Austrian Ball season
+ Meeting a cute Austrian guy who later became her husband
Enjoy this delightful and light hearted conversation between Katie and me.
