Sophie Kate Elliott was a normal 22-year-old girl, studying Economics at the University of Otago in New Zealand. She worked hard to achieve her dreams, eventually securing her dream job at the New Zealand Treasury. She was just a day away from leaving her home city of Dunedin for good, and moving 500 miles away from her abusive ex-boyfriend who had controlled her life for months.

On the 9th of January 2008, Sophie was packing up the last of her belongings with her mother, when there was a knock at the door. A knock that would change the lives of the Elliott family forever.
