At the time of this recording, Clynch and Hardball Hardge were processing all of the reports and rumors about Chris Beard leaving Texas Tech to become Shaka Smart's successor as the men's basketball head coach at Texas.

Big Mike took a leave of absence, this is his first full week since the arrival of his son.

And, Coach Mo's training schedule is busy on Thursdays. There is a rumor Coach Mo will make a long awaited return for episode 67.

The day this podcast dropped on Friday, April 2nd Beard was officially named the new head coach of the Longhorns basketball program.

During segment 2, Blake Brown, the head boys basketball coach at Cedar Park High School, joined us to discuss Beard.

Brown, who was a student-manager for those late 1980s/early 1990s Tom Penders coached teams, helped Beard to jump onto Penders staff as a student assistant coach for Penders after Brown graduated from UT.

Brown also stayed on to deliver his "Tell Me Something Good" about Major League Baseball's opening day as well as a comical  "Man Cave story" about the late, great University of Utah men's basketball coach, Rick Majerus.

During segment 1, an interview with a UT men's basketball fan favorite, former Texas point guard, Javan Felix.

The NOLA native finished his career at Texas with a 3-point shooting percentage of 35%. Felix offered his take on Shaka Smart stepping down to accept the head coaching opportunity at Marquette.

Shaka was Felix's head coach at Texas for his senior season which was Smart's 1st season as UT's head coach.

Felix was recruited by and signed by former Texas head coach, Rick Barnes. Javan played his first 3 seasons at Texas for Barnes.

Felix's story is one which is both inspiring and motivating. He and his family were forced to evacuate their home in New Orleans to Atlanta prior to Hurricane Katrina. Javan talked about growing up in NOLA and always being prepared for hurricane season.

He and his family have a deeply rooted faith and are a tight knit family. Felix discussed his upbringing and the support he received en route to graduating from the University of Texas.

After Felix delivered his "Man Cave story", Clynch eluded to a feature story his produced with both Felix and his former Texas teammate Demarcus Holland 5 years ago while a sports reporter at KVUE. Felix and Holland are  close friends; during that story Holland admitted to removing Felix's bike seat. Clynch asked Felix if Holland ever returned the bike seat to him.

Hilarious response to say the least.
