WHEN PLANNING AHEAD TURNS INTO EXPECTATION

Prioritizing our task list and the things we work on is one aspect of managing expectations of both ourselves and others.

It can be a balancing act to be realistic about what our expectations are so don’t set ourselves up for frustration and disappointment.

On the other hand, knowing what to "expect" can help us feel prepared. It’s how we make sure we have the right gear in the car when the seasons change or how we make sure we’re in the right "mindset" for a meeting.

The problem is, sometimes anticipating/planning ahead can turn into an unrealistic expectation of how something should go.

In these cases, mapping things out in our minds may set us up for feelings of failure or resentment.

Instead, we can learn to let it unfold…
