Cold, chilling rain and sleet attacking the side of the house. A howling wind produces creaks, knocks, and groans in the night: You snuggle deeper into the covers of your bed, and you feel safe. You leave one foot out of the covers as a test and feel fortunate. You no longer check for the monsters under the bed, ok, almost never, but you still can feel unsettled in your home. The covers are impenetrable to flesh or spirits, protecting from all harm. As a child, you could hide under the covers, and no one could find you. The blankets were a cloak that produced invisibility. Even if a monster came, he could not see you. A feeling of security settled your mind and heart, and you slept.
