House Sitting in America and Mexico

CJ and his family have been house sitting in America since March of 2014. During that time, they've visited 43 states! Then they spent most of 2016 house sitting in Mexico, first on the Pacific coast in Melaque, and then onto the central Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende. They love life in San Miguel de Allende, and we talk about what an amazing town it is in the podcast.

CJ knew that his family needed a change when they were still living in the United States. He traveled a lot, but it was for work. IN fact, sometimes he would be gone on business from Monday to Friday. Then one day it hit him when his daughter asked: "Where does Daddy actually live?"

He knew he had to make a change.

Since then, they began house sitting in America and further south. They also started a new life of education, using elements of worldschooling and unschooling with their kids.

Unschooling, Worldschooling, & Worldschooler Connect

In order to meet other traveling families, CJ created Worldschooler Connect, an online application that helps kids and their parents meet up with families traveling in similar places. If you're traveling with kids and want to meet others like you, check it out.

We also talk a lot about house sitting in Mexico and the United States. House sitting has been an increasingly popular topic for family travelers, and so I ask CJ about his experiences and tips for those considering house sitting with kids.

For example, most house sits involve some pet care. The Singer family are open to pet sits, of course, but they also travel with their own pet, as well. I ask CJ how this has affected their house sitting in America and elsewhere.
