Challenging Our Own Expectations & The Impact of the Trans Community With Dr. Paria Hassouri

The trans community is one that has been breaking new ground and spreading messages of inclusivity for decades. For some parents, however, learning that their child is a part of this world can be frightening and can even raise questions towards their own identities as caregivers. It’s a telling sign that we still have a ways to go in regards to accepting those that we may not have a sound understanding of or have our own pre-judgments towards. 

My guest today is one example of how being exposed to the trans community in her own daughter has not only positively impacted her life, but changed her perspective for the better. Dr. Paria Hassouri MD is joining me on the podcast today to share the story of her daughter’s transition, why it inspired her to write her book, ‘Found in Transition’, and how her own childhood experiences with bullying made her feel hesitant towards her daughter’s coming out.
