In the warm up for this year’s EventHorizon, in order to keep we wanted to continue

In order to continue making progress and change, we need to identify and tackle the current problems in our community. We wanted to initiate the conversation about so called elephants in the (energy blockchain) room.

As we are warming up for this year’s EventHorizon, we wanted to start preparing and talk about the state of the global energy blockchain sector. In order to continue making progress and change, we need to identify and tackle the current problems in our community. We wanted to initiate the conversation about so called elephants in the (energy blockchain) room.
What is happening and we are not talking about it? And why? Here are just some of the topics we are planning to cover:
Regulation – everyone is complaining about impediments in the regulation, but what is the real problem here?
Peer to peer? What do companies mean when they say they are doing peer to peer?
Disruptors? Really? So many are here to “disrupt” the energy sector? Not going anywhere anytime soon.
Business models? Commercialization strategy?
Why are utilities moving so slowly?
Sometimes it just feels good to rant about the problems and it brings us closer to the solution.

Energy Singularity - The Event Horizon Podcast

For episode 4, we’re going to listen in to a roundtable held recently at the EnergyWeb Hub in Berlin. As a warm up this year’s EventHorizon and to continue delivering a dose of reality, Ana Trbovich (Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of Grid Singulatiry & a Co-Founder of the Energy Web Foundation) moderated this roundtable to address head-on some of the current challenges facing the EventHorizon community.

We'll hear from Ana, Julia Padberg (Investment Manager at Set Ventures), Professor Jens Struker (Institue of Energy Economics), Jessie Morris (Chief Commercial Officer at Energy web Foundation) and Ed Hesse (CEO of Grid Singularity and Co-Founder of the Energy Web Foundation) as they go after some of the elephant’s in the room.

And It’s a long list; the lack of energy market reform, the snails pace of regulation, the scalability of blockchain, what does peer to peer actually mean, tokenization and much much more.

Let’s begin as Ana asks everyone to introduce themselves.
