Once we discover that our our deepest insights spring from a reflective mental state, how do we invite others to join us in that kind of open-minded, listening space? As writers, how can we help elicit that sort of reflection in the reader? As teachers, how can we do so for our students? As people with families, friends, and colleagues, how can we do this in our personal lives? This perhaps begins to move us beyond the inside-out paradigm and point to the ways in which we are all a part of a single, formless, energy of connection.

Brooke Bishop is a writer, mentor, and Master's candidate in Rhetoric and Composition at Oregon State University.

With a background in theatre and filmmaking, Brooke is passionate about using storytelling, connection, and collaboration to awaken folks to their innate source of resilience, presence, and compassion. She is the Founding Editor of The Daily Lift on Medium.com, which seeks to do just that.

Her graduate research is focused on unleashing the potential of rhetoric and pedagogy to inspire reflection and trigger insights.
