Your mindset starts with you. It doesn't start with someone or something else. Most things that happen to you are uncontrollable. So how do you change things that aren't controllable like the weather, the traffic, or the person that was a jerk to you at work? You change your perspective. If you can't change your situation, you can change your perspective.

Although it is not easy to immediately change your perspective, it has been shown that meditation is extremely effective. Find a couple minutes a day to start with focusing on your breathing, enjoying the moment, and realizing that the small things that are happening to you now won't matter in a year. Meditation doesn't have to be sitting cross legged with your hands in the air. You can sit still, take a walk alone in your thoughts, or just close your eyes. Focus on the positive things in life, hang out with positive people, and get rid of the negative news and you will see a massive difference in your mindset.
