NFL Outlook

Is Rookie RB Jerome Ford the Day Three RB to Target in this 2022 NFL Draft Class?

Jerome Ford is a solid running back that displays good vision, power, and decision-making with the football. He excels in short yardage around the goal line, and has the shown the ability to get to the edge and make things happen on the outside well.

While he is a bigger back, (5’11 /220 lbs.), Ford uses his size well. He does a good job combining patience, solid decision making, burst and acceleration. He is not the shiftiest back in this class, but Jerome Ford possesses enough agility to be effective at the next level.

When it comes to growth areas, the biggest growth area for Jerome Ford is his work on passing downs. His hands are not an issue, he proved to be an effective pass catcher when targeted in college, the only issue was that wasn’t very often. The passing game was never a priority for him, and as a result he has a basic route tree. Unlike a lot of backs coming out of collage, Jerome Ford has the makings of being an outstanding back in pass protection, this bodes well for this on the field opportunities in passing downs.

The majority of the RotoHeat analysts see Jerome Ford as a potential two-down starting running back at the NFL level. Ford should excel in a run-first offense. The team projects Ridder to come off the board in the fourth round this year’s NFL Draft.
