Welcome to the Drum Channel Podcast with Billy Amendola. This week’s guest is one of NYC’s first-call-session-drummers of the 70s-80s and beyond, Allan Schwartzberg.

Schwartzberg, who started playing Jazz at a young age, went on to record drums on AM/FM radio hits; “Tie A Yellow Ribbon” (Tony Orlando & Dawn), “Cats in the Cradle” (Harry Chapin), “Working My Way Back to You,” (The Spinners), “Funky President,” (James Brown) Never Can Say Goodbye,” (Gloria Gaynor), “Star Wars Theme,” (Meco), and Rod Stewart’s “Great American Songbook,” (volumes 2,3,4), to name a few.

In between his very busy session schedule, Allan was king of the jingles here in New York, as well as touring periodically with Stan Getz, Mountain, (filling in for Corky Laing), Peter Gabriel, (who first solo album after his departure from Genesis, featured Schwartz on drums), The Brecker Brothers and more. Enjoy!
