Carolyn Brunson obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education: Sport Management; Business, and a Master's Degree in Sport Administration from Valparaiso University and completed doctoral coursework in Education at Colorado State University. She has taught sport management and health and wellness courses and has built a variety of multi- disciplinary programs in higher education. Carolyn moved to Los Angeles in 2017 for year-round sunshine and the diverse culture that LA has to offer. After making this transition, she became gravely ill with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare condition whereby the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves in the body. Carolyn went from fit and healthy to being paralyzed, on life support, and unable to see or speak. At one point, she had to be revived after going into respiratory failure. The cause of this rare condition is unknown, and the healing process with GBS is tedious and painful. Carolyn was forced to relearn how to balance, walk, and feed herself, while waiting for the nerves to heal and her vision to return. She rehabbed herself through exercise, yoga, meditation and a faith over fear mindset. Despite losing everything, she never gave up hope that she would make a full recovery. Carolyn is now thriving and ready to encourage others with her story of the tough yet beautiful life lessons she learned on this journey. https://www.facebook.com/carolyn.brunson.50
