Dr. Dora Wolfe is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in trauma and attachment. Dr. Wolfe has over 20 years of clinical experience working with children, adults, couples, and families. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology, minoring in feminist literature, from Loyola University. She went on to earn her doctorate in clinical psychology, with a specialization in abuse, from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Wolfe has worked across a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, residential facilities, the department of corrections, and private practice. She has worked with a diverse trauma population - combat vets, emergency workers, survivors and perpetrators of abuse, and survivors of natural disasters. She practices trauma informed therapy with a foundation of attachment theory and affective neuroscience. Utilizing modalities such as biofeedback, neurofeedback, EMDR, somatic processing, and mindfulness into her work with patients. Dr. Wolfe trains and supervises students and early career therapists, and consults with schools, hospitals, PCP's, pediatricians, surgeons, and attorneys. Her aim is to insure others are trauma informed. She has presented on topics such as stress and the brain, trauma and the brain, attachment, early developmental trauma, and trauma and attachment. She is currently working on numerous publications related to trauma. Dr. Wolfe's passion has always been on prevention. Her career has led to her focus on what is being called "pre-trauma." That is, how we both prevent abuse, and nurture protective factors that lead to fewer traumatic occurrences and increased resilience in the face of traumatic events.
