Stoicism, an Ancient Greek philosophy formed in Athens, teaches that virtue,, the highest good is based on knowledge, the wise can live in harmony with he divine Reason that permeates nature. Christianity, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, teaches love, compassion, charity and forgiveness. It is only through Jesus and faith not good works, that one can achieve salivation .

While stoicism appears as the polar opposite of Christianity- with Stoics relying solely on reason, logic, and knowledge to achieve inner peace, and Christians relying on Jesus’ forgiveness of sins to achieve salvation for their souls- the two philosophies have far more in common than meets the eye.
