News:

I’m sure that this isn’t news to most at this point, but Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance finally opened to guests this past week on January 17th. Crowds started lining up early in the morning to be let into the park at 6am, hours before the official opening at 8am. Once 8am rolled around, guests could use the Disneyland app to join a boarding group. In just a couple of minutes, all the main boarding groups had been claimed, with the backup groups being filled just minutes after that. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/01/star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-now-open-at-disneyland-park/ and https://www.micechat.com/248074-rise-of-the-resistance-now-open-is-the-force-strong-with-this-one/

Of course with the opening of a new attraction, there is going to be a load of new merchandise, and Rise of the Resistance is no exception. From more traditional offerings like t-shirts and hats, to more unique like an attraction ride vehicle, there is something for everyone. The designs on the clothing are all pretty similar to the annual passholder exclusive design we talked about previously. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/16/disneyland-folks-check-out-the-rise-of-the-resistance-gear-heading-your-way/#more-306091 and https://www.micechat.com/248099-rise-of-the-resistance-inspired-food-and-merchandise-lands-in-galaxys-edge/

Star Wars and spirit jerseys have collided at Disneyland. A new ice planet Hoth design has appeared in Star Traders in Tomorrowland, and at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. The jersey features HOTH on the back, with imperial walkers on the surface towards the bottom. The front has the Star Wars logo on the chest and the same walker design on the bottom. As with all spirit jerseys, this one is pricey at $69.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/new-star-wars-hoth-spirit-jersey-has-landed-in-disneyland/#more-307139

The Millennium Falcon popcorn bucket was a great souvenir for the Resistance, but what about the First Order? Kylo Ren’s Tie Interceptor beverage holder is now available. For $18.49, you can get the beverage holder with your choice of drink, or for $1 more, you can get it with fries! The Tie Interceptor can be purchased at the Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/join-the-dark-side-we-have-drinks-and-fries-with-kylo-rens-new-tie-interceptor-mug-in-disneyland/#more-306700

The new E-Ticket attraction isn’t the only thing to come to Batuu this week. A selection of new food and beverages have also landed. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/may-the-force-be-with-you-if-you-think-were-sharing-this-brand-new-salty-snack-in-disneyland/#more-306111 and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/review-galaxys-edge-has-our-new-fave-purple-hot-chocolate-in-disneyland/#more-306154 and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/we-hope-you-enjoy-your-green-milk-spicy-cause-here-comes-our-review-of-disneylands-new-toydaria-swirl/#more-306150 and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/16/three-new-other-worldly-treats-you-gotta-see-the-spicy-milk-are-coming-to-disneylands-galaxys-edge-tomorrow/#more-305905 and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/news-you-can-now-order-the-bantha-cookie-a-la-carte-at-disneylands-ogas-cantina/#more-307199

For guests going into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, new Play Disney Parks pins can be had for just using the app in the land and two attractions. There are three pins available at Little Green Men Store Command in Tomorrowland or Westward Ho Trading Company in Frontierland. To unlock the ability to purchase these limited edition pins, the Play Disney parks app must be loaded and Bluetooth and location services must be allowed for the app. Opening the app in Batuu will give you the “Black Spire Explorer” achievement, riding Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run will unlock the “Flight of the Falcon” achievement, and riding Rise of the Resistance will unlock the “Hero of the Resistance” achievement. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/01/show-off-your-star-wars-datapad-achievements-from-the-play-disney-parks-app-with-new-themed-commemorative-pins/

If you have the lucky (or unlucky, depending on your nerdiness) experience of being involved with an unexpected show exit for Rise of the Resistance, don’t fear! Disney has a procedure for this. If you are unable to complete your mission for the Resistance, you will be allowed to re-enter the attraction when it is operational again, and you will be provided with a multi-experience fastpass that will give you a free FastPass for any attraction in the park. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/yikes-disneylands-rise-of-the-resistance-is-breaking-down-what-happens-when-the-resistances-mission-cant-be-completed/#more-306639

Lunar New Year kicked off at Disney California Adventure on Friday. This year’s celebration, going on through February 9th, includes Mulan’s Lunar New Year Processional, a World of Color pre-show titled “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration”, performances at the Paradise Gardens stage, and more. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/01/starting-today-celebrate-the-year-of-the-mouse-during-lunar-new-year-at-disney-california-adventure-park/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/19/were-giving-you-a-first-look-at-disneylands-lunar-new-year-entertainment-for-2020/#more-304693

If you want some extra good fortune in the coming year, then you might want to pick up the new mandarin orange cotton candy that is available for the Lunar New Year celebration. Mandarin Oranges are considered symbols of good fortune and prosperity for the Chinese New Year. The cotton candy doesn’t taste too sweet, and has been described as tasting like baby aspirin. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/19/review-orange-you-glad-we-found-the-mandarin-cotton-candy-at-disneylands-lunar-new-year/#more-307423

Mobile ordering is available for the Lunar New Year food and beverage booths. Skip the wasted time waiting in line and order on the Disneyland app to get food hot and fresh without the wait. Another often overlooked trick is to order food for multiple booths at a single booth. This is great for guests without mobile ordering. Basically, just pick the shortest line, order all the festival food you want, then head to the booths to pick it up! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/get-even-more-out-of-disney-california-adventures-lunar-new-year-celebration-with-mobile-order/#more-306924

The Sip & Savor pass is back for the Lunar New Year. The pass is $42, or $39 with an annual pass discount and includes 6 tabs to be used on Lunar New Year food and beverage stands. The passes can be purchased at any of the booths, as well as Seaside Souvenirs, Kingswell, Elias & Co. – https://www.micechat.com/248081-disneyland-update-a-lucky-lunar-new-year/

A sweet new deal has been cooked up at the Plaza Inn. For just $5.99, guests can pick up a Red Velvet Minnie Mouse Bundt Cake! The cake is traditional red velvet, filled with raspberry filling, topped with a vanilla glaze, red and black sprinkles, pink frosting, chocolate mouse ears, and Minnie’s signature bow. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/15/no-bundts-about-it-this-new-polka-dotted-cake-in-disneyland-is-absolutely-adorable/#more-305616

Guests picking up a hotdog, or some popcorn may notice something old is new again. The popcorn bucket design from when Disneyland opened is returning to the popcorn locations around the park. In addition, a new design has come to the wrappers that are most commonly found wrapped around hot dogs. The hot dog wrapper is reminiscent of the “it’s a small world” theme, and is very colorful. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/19/news-the-hot-dog-wrappers-in-disneyland-have-an-ah-mazing-new-look/#more-307590

Tortilla Jo’s in Downtown Disney has updated their snack and brunch menus with new items! There are new garnished fruit snack cups that come in different varieties, and a new weekend brunch item the Huevos Ahogados. This new item includes two poached eggs, chorizo, and nopales in a tomato pasilla broth, topped with queso fresco, avocado, cilantro, and serrano chilis. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/20/tortilla-jos-in-downtown-disney-adds-two-new-items-to-their-menu/#more-307798

If you love Pixar and Minnie ears, then this next new item is for you! Loungefly has released a designer Pixar headband in the “World of Pixar” collection. The band features the Pixar Luxo Ball design on the ears, with a leather like band, the Loungefly logo on one side, and an embroidered Luxy Junior on the other. This set of ears may be designer, but are priced just above the standard ears at $29.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/20/the-cutest-new-pixar-ears-have-rolled-into-disneyland/#more-307663
