This Friday, January 17th is the official opening of Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland! Disney announced this week that R2-D2 will be a permanent fixture rolling around Batuu at Disneyland. For guests living in Southern California, or kids anywhere, there are some good ticket deals for 2020. Now through May 18th, Southern California residents can purchase a three day, one park per day ticket for $67 per day, or $201 per ticket. Tickets are limited to 5 per person, per day and are the same for children or adults. For families outside of Southern California, children ages 3-9 can get the same $67 per day, three day, one park per day ticket. Tickets are still available for 80s night at Disneyland After Dark on January 29th. The party goes from 9pm to 1am, with early park access starting at 6pm. The evening includes specialty food like the Sloppy Joe Burger at Red Rose Tavern, photo opportunities with themes like “Tron,” Mousercise,” “The Little Mermaid,” and more. The Fantasyland Theatre will return to Videopolis with a VJ playing music videos from the 80s. A special fireworks show “Awesome After Dark – Fireworks to the Max” will also premiere. The Disney Parks Blog has released the Foodie Guide to Lunar New Year 2020 at DCA. New details have been announced for the upcoming Food and Wine Festival. The festival will take place February 28 through April 21 over in DCA. Signature events that were announced include-
Winemaker Reception with Skywalker Vineyards at Carthay Circle Restaurant on March 20th
Winemaker Reception with Fess Parker Winery at Carthay Circle Restaurant on March 27th
Winemaker Reception with Silverado Vineyards at Carthay Circle Restaurant on April 10th
Winemaker Dinner with Silver Oak | Twomey at Steakhouse 55 on March 18th
Beverage education and tasting seminars on beer, wine and mixology at Sonoma Terrace and Golden Vine Winery (no dates listed yet)
Something new this year is that select Downtown Disney locations will be getting in on the Food and Wine fun too. Potter & Potter Auctions is holding an auction that will feature Disney collectibles gathered from theme parks around the world, with an emphasis on the Haunted Mansion and Adventureland items, theme park props and cast member souvenirs. There are over 750 items, including posters, costumes & uniforms, signage, original drawings, blueprints, animation art, park maps & memorabilia, and much more. The auction takes place on February 8, but prospective buyers may place online and absentee bids in advance of the sale. The newest popcorn bucket that has “landed” at the resort is so cool! The new Millennium Falcon popcorn bucket can be filled with popcorn OR fries! To get the bucket filled with fries, guests must order it through mobile ordering at the Galactic Grill. Not only does it look cool and hold a couple of different food options, the engines also light up! The bucket is one of the largest offered to date. In a move that should surprise nobody, there is another new churro flavor! This time it is the new Fluffernutter churro! For those of you that like Pop Tarts, there is a new item at the Jolly Holiday Bakery on Main Street.
