Harif Guzman is a world-renowned contemporary artist and fashion designer. Born in Venezuela, Harif grew up in New York City. In his youth, he worked in his father's print shop, where he gained an appreciation for mechanical reproduction. Guzman creates art of extremes, bringing together street culture with fine art. Once homeless, Guzman became recognized for graffiti-ing the streets of New York but has since climbed his way up into the international art world. He is influenced by skateboard culture and grew up with some of the greats, such as Muska and Mark Gonzales. He has collaborated with brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Volcom, and Burton, and has worked with stylist Luka Sabbat. Celebrities, such as Uma Thurman, have purchased his work. In this episode, we talk about the perception of street art and the story behind the faces seen throughout his work, navigating the art industry today, the importance of having a team as an artist, and which place excited Harif the most to create art.
