Neil McInroy is the Chief Executive of CLES, the National Organisation for Local Economies. We discussed how community wealth building is an essential part of the state reforms that are needed in the UK. Neil explained how these reforms should be aimed at putting state and economic power back into the control of local citizens. We discussed how important it is to ensure that citizens also have a strong voice in their community, which can ensure that the issues that are of concern to those citizens can be aired, not according to the priorities of the big media corporations, but in a way that suits the needs of people living in neighbourhoods and towns across the whole of the UK. This means ensuring that citizens have ownership of, and access to, media platforms.
