Dr. Laura Murillo on Advocating for Diversity & Inclusion in Businesses

Dr. Laura Murillo is the President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Founding President & CEO of the Chamber’s Foundation. With her “People, Passion, Persistence” philosophy at heart, and the support of board members and staff, Laura has led the Chamber to become one of the most influential chambers of commerce in the country. Laura is the youngest of nine children born to immigrant parents whose lessons of entrepreneurship, tenacity, and hard work still inspires her to open the doors of opportunity for women and minorities.

Laura joins me today to discuss how business owners and entrepreneurs can help accelerate society’s recovery from COVID-19. She discusses why it’s necessary to invest in small businesses amidst the global pandemic whenever we can. She shares how her immigrant parents - who came to the country as laborers and later became entrepreneurs - taught her persistence and passion. She also underscores the value of cultivating diversity & inclusion in businesses and highlights what we can all do to advocate for the representation of women and minorities in entrepreneurship.
