Welcome to the Hundred and Twenty Eighth episode of Daily Daf Differently. In this episode, Rabbi Marci Jacobs Aronchick looks at Masechet Shabbat Daf 129. In this episode, we explore the principle of safek n’fashot l’hakeil – our leniency in cases where a life might be in danger. When faced with decision between preserving someone’s life (even only potentially) and preserving Shabbat, we choose to preserve life.

Rabbi Marci Jacobs Aronchick is the Education Director of Congregation Ansche Chesed in New York City. Prior to coming to the Ansche Chesed community, she served for five years as the Assistant Rabbi at Temple Emunah, in Lexington, MA. A lover of Rabbinic Literature since the first time she explored a page of Talmud in college, Marci relishes opportunities to bring her passion for the Gemara to her students, whether one-on-one, in the classroom, or now, through Daily Daf Differently.

The opening and closing music for this podcast is Ufros from The Epichorus album One Bead.
