We meet again with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon for Episode 079 of the D&D Fitness Radio Podcast to discuss ‘carboyhdrates.’ We discuss numerous topics around intake of carbohydrates including weight loss, body composition, protein consumption, fat intake and the implications for energy and nutritional deficiencies. Dr. Lyon identifies options for choosing the right types of carbohydrates and timing the ingestion of those choices, particularly as it relates to general health, immune function, hormonal responses and recovery.

Dr. Lyon received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board-certified in family medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she studied vitamin and mineral metabolism, chronic disease prevention and management and the physiological effects of diet composition. She also completed a research/clinical fellowship in Nutritional Science and Geriatrics at Washington University in St. Louis.
