Today, Salisbury’s Matt Nein joins us to share his unique method of developing coaches to build his staff and pass on to the next generation of coaches. After a real quick rundown of how he got to Salisbury Matt dives right into the unique “issues” that you experience at the Division III level, and how this his driven him to build this education model. This model is a built as a curriculum including the students time not just with him at Salisbury but also the role of internships for the coaches, and how that impacts their entire department. He then shares with us how a change in mindset has driven him to continue to grow this program to the next level. Matt then discusses the role of administration in this whole process, including where he feels he could have done better and where he has done better with involving them in the process to increase support of the program. We finish off discussing the role of mental toughness, how they evaluate and quantify it, and how periodization has changed throughout his career.

We are hoping to provide the best possible content for strength coaches with each of our shows. If feel this could provide value for anyone else in the strength and conditioning field please feel free to share
