You've probably heard of Gary Vaynerchuk's book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook. The idea is that you should engage with your audience a few times first, which is what the Jab refers to, before you make an offer or promote something - which is what the right-hook represents.

This is something us email marketers have been doing for many years now, but it was Gary Vee who gave it a beautiful, catchy phrase and made it stick in our minds.
