And as tends to happen with the highest court in the country, the decision’s impact will go beyond just the case at hand. For now, it makes it so that the Biden administration can opt to not deport illegal aliens if it chooses. But in the future, it could also mean that states could not intervene in deportation—even if a president decided to deport every illegal alien in the country.
