Previous Episode: BLKSHE

In this episode of Creative Guts, co-hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman chat with storyteller and author, Rebecca (Becky) Rule! This episode is an incredibly special one because it is the first that Creative Guts has recorded in front of a live audience! Creative Guts interviewed Becky in front of the students and teachers at Exeter High School.

Rebecca Rule has published 14 books — some for children, others for adults, and many set right here in New Hampshire! Becky writes a column for New Hampshire Magazine, she hosted the NH Authors Series for ten years on NH PBS, and is still the host of Our Hometown.

Becky likes to make people laugh — and we think she’s great at it. In this episode, we talk about the magic of finding the right words and how it all started when she accidentally spelled “pop” with Scrabble tiles. You’ll also hear Becky’s thoughts on learning to be brave, trusting your voice, writing badly, and more.

A special thank you to Exeter High School, Exeter’s Racial Unity Team, and the NH State Council on the Arts for making Creative Guts’ first ever live episode possible!
