Darla is a D1 field hockey player that left behind a scholarship at Central Michigan University to prioritize her mental health and she will now be entering her next season playing for Merrimack College, another D1 program. After experiencing a medical event in her first season of field hockey, she has become an advocate for student athletes’ mental health and the role coaches play in student athletes’ lives.

Today, she shares her personal journey of dealing with medical issues, the difficult choice to leave her athletic scholarship, and the lessons she learned about self-care & alignment with personal values.
