Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard trained neuroanatomist and author. After experiencing a severe hemorrhagic stroke, Dr. Taylor lost the ability to write, talk, and recall the details of her life. She wrote My Stroke of Insight to document her profound experience and eight-year recovery process. Dr. Taylor regularly speaks to various different audiences on the brain’s ability to recover from trauma. She has been chosen as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by TIME Magazine and was the premiere guest on Oprah’s “Soul Series” web-cast. Additionally, she has a new book Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life that is now available.

 

In today’s episode of the Conversations on Healing podcast, host Shay Beider welcomes Dr. Taylor to talk about her experience with recovering from a stroke and the power of choice in activating different states brain states. She describes the 4 characters at the neuroanatomical level and their impact in our daily life. Additionally, Dr. Taylor explains the different roles of the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and how people can bring consciousness to the present moment by remaining right brain dominant. She also highlights the importance of sleep for cell rejuvenation and information integration. Dr. Taylor shares the concept of a B.R.A.I.N. Huddle, which helps our brain to integrate all four characters on the neuroanatomical level in order to powerfully direct our lives and create peace.
