Jill Castle is a pediatric Nutritionist and founder of the Nourished Child, which is a resource for parent’s nutrition education for their children.  She has been featured on many different platforms including CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times to name a few. She is known for her expertise in combining current research with application in order to help parents shift their mindset with their kid’s nutrition. She is also the author of: Eat Like a Champion, Try New Food, The Smart Mom’s Guide to Starting Solids, The Smart Mom’s Guide to Healthy Snacking, and co-author of Fearless Feeding. 

 

In today’s episode, host Shay Beider speaks with Jill Castle on the importance of a parent’s role to create a positive relationship between food and well being. This play a role in how children develop, view themselves in the world, and shape their interactions. She talks about not placing too much emphasis on exactly what food is on the table, but to create a conscious experience that can be felt. She also talks about some of the scientific literature on being present at mealtime, and how this varies at different phases in a child’s life. Jill shares that creating a positive family environment with food will allow for a more activation cultivation of self love.
