I’m joined by Steve Deace, who contends that fundamentally there is nothing new about the Trump idolatry. Because conservative media was always an industry designed to give the Right what they are looking for rather than acting as leaders, the movement was never focused on outcomes. He believes we do not have a long-term future, and that is why our colleagues don’t care to even think about outcomes. They have acculturated our people into elevating symbolism over substance and reactionary politics over outcomes. It’s just that now they have a more charismatic figure to rally behind and the advent of social media, where they can immediately monetize their reactionary politics. Where does that leave us?
