Andy Switky is an engineer, designer, and founder of Code Name Collective, a consultancy focused on the design and building of complex systems. His current work is primarily in healthcare and the social determinants of health, mostly for poor and vulnerable populations. 

 

Andy has been at the forefront of innovation in Silicon Valley since the early 1990s, first as a mechanical and manufacturing engineer, then as a designer and Associate Partner at IDEO, where he practiced, taught, and coached Design Thinking to clients of all sizes in a wide variety of industries for more than 16 years. At IDEO he led IDEO’s manufacturing group for more than ten years, was the founder and Managing Director of IDEO Shanghai, and was the Managing Director for IDEO Health. 

 

Besides his Design Thinking and human centered design work, Andy stays close to the realities of building products, services, and organizations as a lecturer in materials and manufacturing systems in the School of Engineering at Stanford University and at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (the d.school) at Stanford.
